The exhibition's story is to celebrate Kering's rich history and its proud craftsmanship. The history includes not only the brands, but also Kering's connection with the Chinese market. In the spatial narrative, we took inspiration from the ancient Silk Road, the audience will walk into a journey from the west to the east, and experience each brand's unique personality through these unwrapping scrolls...
A brand journey from east to the west
Kering has a variety of luxury brands, in the exhibition, there are Gucci, Bottega Veneta, YSL, Balenciaga, Bironi, and McQueen as major luxury fashion brands.
As for the fine jewelry and lifestyle brand, there are Qeelin, Pomellato, Ginori, Creed, Boucheron, and Kering eyewear.
The display table inspired from Chinese traditional achitecture structure, which is 榫卯(Sun Mao) We extracting the essence of its form, and simplify with modern geometry design language, creating this elegant display form.
The Jewelry and lifestyle brand has their display table instead of scroll space, the display table's installation is inspired from the journey from west to the east, the moving hills, the great mountains, and the Chinese elegant bamboo.
The form is inspired from the opening process of Chinese traditional scroll, when audience exploring the exhibition, they can sense a journey is slowly revealing itself, telling its legendary history and rich culture.
The entrance is an installation showing the long history of the brands from Kering, when walking into the spaces, the audiences will feel the flowing of the time and step by step into the Kering nowadays. The cove lights, and organic forms of the facade rendering the inviting and elegant mood.
The bamboo paper, mat finish aluminum, and beige color fabrics showing the tranquil and poetic color and finish in the space.
The material is inspired from traditional Chinese paper, in response of sustainability, we choose the bamboo paper to construct the entire facade inside, the bamboo paper showing the elegant beige color and fine texture details.
AN MODERN REIMAGINE TO CRAFTMANSHIP AN UNROLLING SCROLL CONNECT WEST AND EAST
The innovation lab and the side entrances features displays that showcases how Kering pushing its sustainable promise and exploring future materials for its pieces. The textile samples and the backdrop wall took inspiration from traditional workshops, which now become a space to show the sustainability and material quality behind the product.
